Instructions
- Bacon can be cooked any way you like, so before making this recipe, make sure the bacon is cooked. Prepare the vegetables, open the can of peas, strain through a sieve while rinsing with clean water, set aside.
- Heat olive oil or bacon grease in a large skillet. Add chopped onion, jalapeno, celery, saute until the onion looks transparent, add spices, omit the cayenne pepper if you don't want it too spicy.
- Add the cooked bacon, black eyed peas, and water. Cook again until completely cooked and this will take about 10 more minutes or 8 minutes.
