Making These Cookies

Making this Mexican cake takes a while because it uses up to 3 colors, and in the end, you have to have one bright color that gives a feeling of happiness to those who want to try it.

Start by making two cake ingredients, dry ingredients, and wet ingredients. Mix the dry ingredients in one container and the wet ingredients in another container. If you don’t have a mixer, stir it manually using the strength of your hands (while exercising your muscles :)). You can use a mixer for this to speed up the process. Stir and combine until you find or obtain a strong dough.

Separate the dough into three balls, and use food coloring for cake frosting. You can use food coloring from Wilton and it is easy to use, just use a toothpick remove a small amount from the jar, and place it on top of the mixture. Stir the dough with your hands (use gloves) and you will see your dough color. Making it is easy and fun, especially if you invite your children to accompany you.

When everything is as you expect, you have a colored ball as expected, now make a small ball measuring 1/2 inch. I scooped the mixture with the tip of a melon spoon to make balls for each color.

Then, take one color from each ball, all together making three balls of different colors. Combine these three colors into one, and start rolling, if it’s good, now roll it on the sugar. Next, place it on a baking sheet with the seams of the three colors facing up.

Now deflate the ball using the bottom of a glass or bowl. Place in the oven, and bake for 10 to 11 minutes depending on the oven you use. Make sure that when cooked, the onions of the Mexican Sugar Cookies are golden. Remove from the oven and leave for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before then transferring to a rack to cool.
