- Rose’s Lime Juice
Yukon Jack is a liqueur based on Canadian whiskey and honey. This intoxicating drink is produced by the Sazerac company. It contains 50% ABV, sometimes this drink is also called “Black Sheep of Canadian Liquors”. This snakebite shot uses the original recipe, however, not all of those on the market are made using the original recipe, you will find variations of Yukon Jack with Fire, Rye, Apple, Barrel Proof, Honey, and Snakebite flavors.

How to make a Snakebite Shot

Pour Yukon Jack and Rose’s Lime Juice into a cocktail shaker. Beat until mixed evenly.
Step 2:
Strain into a glass and you can immediately enjoy the taste of snakebite shot which will make you strong.

Make Ahead: We don’t recommend you do it like this, enjoying it as soon as possible after making it will taste better. So, don’t make ahead.
Storage: As we mentioned, it is not recommended to store snakebite shots, because this drink must be enjoyed immediately.

- Substitutions: You can replace the ingredients in this snake bite drink. For example in the UK, they replace the ingredients by using hard cider, lager beer, and this is poured into layered drinks.
- Vegetarian Option: This snakebite recipe that we make is animal-based, so it is safe and vegetarian-friendly.
- Vegan Option: Yukon Jack is made from honey, so it is not vegan. So, when making a vegan version of snakebite, you can remove the honey and replace it with other ingredients such as palm sugar or coconut sugar.
- Gluten Free: Yes, this recipe is gluten free
- Alcohol Free Option: We haven’t found a non-alcoholic version for the snakebite shot recipe, but you can try it using NA Zero Proof whiskey but the taste will certainly be different from the original recipe.
- Smaller Serving Size: This drink for body strength is made with oz cocktails, you can break it into two so you can use it for 2 servings, dividing 1 oz for each serving.
- For larger recipes, you can double the ingredients.
SNAKEBITE SHOT RECIPE TIPS
The snakebite cocktail is a very strong cocktail, and some of the bartenders we found didn’t want to make it because it was so strong and that was concerning. If you want to make it, think first. If you find a bartender like that, then just order something else like the Cocotini Cocktail or The Italian Old Fashioned Cocktail.
There is also the British snakebite, they make a layered the drink with hard cider, and a beer similar to the Black and Tan. British Snakebite contains Yukon Jack but has additional liqueurs such as blackcurrant cordial liqueur, poured over the top of the drink.
There are also snakebite drink recipes that add hot sauce or drops of tabasco sauce to it, but we didn’t try it.
